NYK to establish first RORO Terminal in Saudi Arabia

NYK have signed a joint-venture agreement with Saudi Arabia's Ports Development Company (PDC) to establish their first RORO terminal operating company at King Abdullah Port on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.

The terminal, named KAP RORO Terminal, is planned to commence operating by the third quarter of 2016. The joint venture will be the first automotive logistics base for NYK in the Middle East Region and when complete will have the capacity for handling 600,000 cars a year.

King Abdullah port is a private port which is owned and developed by PDC, a joint venture company between the Saudi Arabian conglomerate Huta Marine Works Limited and Emaar, the Economic City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
